The Waterloo Schools Foundation (WSF) is proud to announce the recipients of our September grant cycle, awarding a total of $5,764 to support innovative classroom projects that enhance teaching and learning across the Waterloo Community School District.
The following projects have been selected by the WSF's Academic Allocations Committee for funding:
Carrie Kammeyer, Highland Elementary - The Reader’s Cup | $600
Funding will support a schoolwide reading initiative designed to engage students in friendly competition, encourage a love of reading, and celebrate literacy growth.
Katie Rice, Becker Elementary - Pollinator Garden & Learning Center | $2,000
This project will establish a hands-on outdoor learning space where students can explore expanded science curriculum, sustainability, and environmental stewardship through a pollinator-friendly garden constructed by 5th graders.
Karen Parks, East High School - Real Care Baby Simulators | $2,764
Funding will allow for the purchase of interactive baby simulators that give students real-world experience in child development courses, preparing them with practical skills for the future.
These grants will be funded through the Waterloo Schools Foundation's grant funds and STEM fund, made possible thanks to the generosity of donors who believe in the power of education. In addition to these grants, the WSF continues to support the Waterloo Schools through various District Initiatives and other fundraising projects that align with the WCSD's strategic plan.
