Endowments
Like funds, endowments serve the purpose of benefiting specific projects or areas. Endowments provide an ongoing way to continue supporting these areas for years to come.
unrestricted endowment
The Waterloo Schools Foundation maintains an endowment fund through the Waterloo Community Foundation. This fund provides permanent, long-term support for Waterloo Schools, helping ensure resources are available for students, educators, and innovative programs for years to come. Contributions to this fund may be made through the Waterloo Community Foundation and may qualify for Iowa's Endow Iowa Tax Credit. Donate to this fund on their website.
bunger endowment
Established in honor of Kathy Bunger, West High alum, this endowment supports student academic opportunities across the District.
DALTON ENDOWMENT
Funds innovative learning opportunities within classrooms and the Waterloo Schools.
debate & critical thinking endowment
Long-term support for the Waterloo Schools debate teams, as well as funding to assist students in developing critical thinking skills so students will be informed, engaged, and dedicated citizens of the United States and our world.
dorthy powell scholarship
Arranged by the late Dorothy Powell, this endowment provides funding in the form of grants for students pursuing academic interests outside the classroom.
KETCHUM FUNDS
This endowment was established by the Eleanor & Kenneth Ketchum Trust in memory of Eleanor, a Waterloo Schools educator for over 40 years, and Kenneth, a Waterloo Schools employee for 38 years. These dollars are used for students pursuing careers in education, with some funds most recently dedicated to Teach Waterloo.
M. LYBBERT ENDOWMENT
The late Marguerite Lybbert, was a dedicated educator who taught in the Waterloo Community School District for more than 30 years. This endowment will provide ongoing support for workshops and seminars for lower elementary teachers.
MARY K WILLIAMS ENDOWED FUND
This endowment honors Mary K's lifelong commitment to public education. This endowment directly supports students and educators within Waterloo Schools by expanding opportunities for family and parental involvement to increase student academic success.
RUTH PAZDERA READING ENDOWMENT
Arranged by the late Ruth Pazdera, an Evansdale native with a voracious love of reading that began at Jewett Elementary in Evansdale. This endowment serves the purpose of promoting joy through reading at Poyner Elementary.
