vote yes - unifying schools,
empowering students
On November 5th, residents of the Waterloo Community School District have the opportunity to vote on whether or not the WCSD should use their existing 1% statewide local sales tax to build a unified high school campus at the Waterloo Career Center. Authorizing the use of the 1% local option sales tax ensures that property taxes will not be raised to pay for the project.
We believe this will:
-
Promote equity in education by leveling the playing field for every student, including those with special needs
-
Increase competitiveness in areas like career readiness, extracurricular activities, and teacher recruitment
-
Help to improve attendance and academic achievement
-
Create operational efficiencies through modernized facilities, streamlined operations, and sustainable infrastructure
-
Provide safety features, emergency plans, and secure entry points, which are crucial for creating a safe learning environment for students and staff
